Jibb V2 vs. Madonna V3

While at first glance the Jibb and Madonna may look very similar, and they do share the same RAAW DNA, the differences in character are very clear. So, what are the differences between the Jibb V2 and the Madonna V3?

The Madonna is the bike that started RAAW. It's a bike designed for the roughest tracks in the world and built for speed. The Jibb is the second chapter and brings that Madonna flavour to an all-around more playful package that entices you to be an active part of the ride.

The Jibb and Madonna are both made from aluminium and put a high focus on durability and versatility. The majority of the hardware is also shared between the two bikes but the design and the geometry is specific to each model.

What are the geometry differences?

The slightly steeper head tube angle and shorter reach on the Jibb make it quite a bit shorter in wheelbase and go towards its more playful and inviting nature.

The other big difference in geometry is the BB height. On paper the Jibb and Madonna have the same BB drop, at 35mm below the axle line. But the Jibb has less travel, which means that dynamically when you're on the trail it rides higher.

What's the difference in travel?

The Madonna uses a 205mm length shock to provide its 160mm travel. The Jibb uses a 185mm shock to get its 130mm travel. On the trail that translates to the Madonna feeling very planted. It's stable, fast in rough terrain and it inspires confidence. Whereas the Jibb is much more playful, inviting and makes more out of less demanding terrain.

What's the weight difference?

There is no noticeable difference in weight.

I already know what size Madonna I am. Which size Jibb do I need?

The seated position between the two bikes is very similar, which means that if you come from a size Large Madonna and you hop on a size Large Jibb, you'll feel right at home.

How does the hardware compare between the two?

The Jibb V2 and Madonna V3 share the same hardware, just the cable routing is slightly different on the down tube.

How does the adjustability differ?

Both bikes offer the same adjustment options. From the same Lower Shock Mounts to adjust the BB height, suspension progression and allowing for a Mullet setup, to the chain stay length adjustment and the 56 mm headset. The Jibb V2 and Madonna V3 use the same hardware and offer the same adjustments to geometry and suspension progression.

Which bike is best for me?

The Madonna is planted, stable and shines when the trail gets rough. It’s very well rounded, pedals very efficiently up the hill, but will also need a little more input on less demanding trails compared to the Jibb.

The Jibb can take on a lot, but the slightly more compact geometry and the shorter travel make it much more direct. The Jibb gives you feedback through the steering and suspension on a different level, it’s massively good fun. The smaller amount of travel on the Jibb’s suspension means that it will need a firmer grip when things get rowdy, but it will never leave you hanging.

The Madonna is right for you if you prefer your bike to be capable, the Jibb is your choice if you like your bike more inviting and playful.

Both bikes will take on long days in the mountains, but the Jibb will always be a little more efficient with less travel.
